EYFS Rationale
At St. Paul's C E Primary School, we believe every child is unique, valued, and created to shine. Rooted in our Christian vision, “Together We Grow, Love to Learn, Shine and Make a Difference,” and inspired by Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine,” our EYFS provides a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
We recognise the early years as a vital stage in a child’s development, laying the foundations for lifelong learning. Through meaningful play, exploration, and first-hand experiences, our curriculum promotes curiosity, resilience, independence, and a love of learning.
At St. Paul’s, we provide a rich and engaging curriculum that supports children spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Through warm relationships, purposeful opportunities, and carefully planned indoor and outdoor environments, children develop confidence, creativity, communication, and independence.
We believe children learn best through active exploration and positive interactions. Strong partnerships with families and the wider community help every child feel supported, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
At the heart of our EYFS provision is the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to shine. By fostering kindness, curiosity, and joy in learning, we help children build strong foundations for the future.
Overview
The Early Years Foundation Stage is at the heart of life at St. Paul's C E Primary School. Through play, creativity, and meaningful experiences, children grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Our EYFS curriculum supports children’s academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development through high-quality interactions, carefully planned environments, and rich first-hand experiences. Children learn to communicate, collaborate, problem-solve, and express themselves with confidence.
We value strong relationships with families and the wider community, recognising that children flourish when they feel safe, supported, and valued. EYFS plays an important role in bringing our school community together through shared learning, celebrations, and experiences across the Trust.
Our provision nurtures the whole child and builds strong foundations for future learning, enabling every child to shine and reach their full potential.
